Elon Musk teases Tesla flying car: ‘Crazy technology’
Elon Musk Hints Tesla Could Soon Unveil a Flying Car
Elon Musk recently hinted that Tesla may be unveiling a flying car in the near future. During a wide-ranging interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast on Friday, Musk discussed various topics, including the development of the Tesla Roadster.
“We’re getting close to demonstrating the prototype,” Musk told Rogan. “And I think this will be… one thing I can guarantee is that this product demo will be unforgettable.”
When Rogan asked for more details, Musk replied, “Whether it’s good or bad, it will be unforgettable.” He referenced a conversation with his friend Peter Thiel, who once remarked that the future was supposed to have flying cars—but so far, we don’t have them.
Rogan pressed for specifics about the technology, including whether the automobile would have a “retractable wing,” but Musk remained mysterious, saying the unveiling “has a shot at being the most memorable product unveil ever.”
Musk added that the car would “hopefully” be unveiled “in a couple of months.”
“We need to make sure that it works,” he said. “Like, this is some crazy, crazy technology we got in this car. Crazy technology. Crazy crazy.”
Tesla’s Q3 Performance and Market Context
Tesla reported record third-quarter revenue on October 22, beating Wall Street estimates. This was driven by the highest quarterly sales of its electric vehicles (EVs) as U.S. buyers rushed to lock in a key tax credit before its expiration in September.
However, Tesla’s profit fell short of analysts’ expectations. The shortfall was attributed partly to tariffs, research and development costs, and a decrease in income from regulatory credits. These credits are expected to continue fading away due to recent legislation passed by the Trump administration.
Demand Outlook
Looking ahead, demand for Tesla’s vehicles, as well as those of its competitors, is expected to decline through the remainder of the year without the tax credits that have been a significant driver of EV sales.
