From ‘Elm Street’ to Hollywood Blvd., actor Robert Englund unveils star on Walk of Fame
**Robert Englund Honored with Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame**
HOLLYWOOD (KABC) — A “Nightmare” on Hollywood Boulevard took center stage at the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Actor Robert Englund, renowned for his iconic portrayal of Freddy Krueger, was honored with his very own star in a ceremony attended by hundreds of devoted fans.
With a successful career spanning over four decades, Englund has truly “clawed” his way to the top, thanks largely to his signature character from the legendary horror film *A Nightmare on Elm Street*. At the special Halloween-themed event, Englund and his fans transformed the Walk of Fame into what they playfully dubbed the “Walk of Maim.”
“I’m on my third generation of fans now. I’ve just accumulated this great fan base and for an old dog like me, that’s really great,” Englund shared during the ceremony.
It has been 41 years since Englund first starred as Freddy Krueger in the 1985 classic *A Nightmare on Elm Street*. The film’s success sparked seven sequels and cemented Freddy’s status as one of horror’s most enduring royalty.
“If you ask any fan around the world today ‘Who are the horror icons?’ They’ll say Freddy, Jason, Michael, Ghostface, Chucky, and now Art the Clown, probably in that order. Freddy is always first! Always!” said filmmaker Eli Roth.
Fittingly, the unveiling of Englund’s star took place around Halloween — a date perfectly suited to honor one of horror’s greatest icons. Fans packed the venue, many eager to celebrate the legacy of Freddy Krueger.
“For the best horror icon of all time, you couldn’t write that script any better,” said fan Adrian Preziado.
The enduring popularity of Englund’s killer character is undeniable. Fans like Rob Atchley even come prepared to stand in for Englund should another *Nightmare on Elm Street* sequel ever materialize. “I probably have got over a $1,000 invested into it, but the hat, I made the hat myself,” Atchley said proudly.
At 78 years old, Englund doesn’t anticipate reprising his role as Freddy Krueger in another film. Nevertheless, he has already solidified his place as both an actor and slasher legend.
With his star now shining bright on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Robert Englund’s legacy in the horror genre is truly immortal.
