Final Fantasy 14 is removing class & level restrictions on glamour

Glamours have long provided a fun and creative way for **Final Fantasy 14** players to express themselves. By allowing players to overlay the appearance of one piece of armor onto another, glamours let you customize your look without sacrificing the stats of your actual gear. This system has been a fan favorite for enhancing character personalization—until now, however, it came with certain restrictions.

A major change is coming in the game’s upcoming December update that will make glamours even more flexible. In the latest **Letter from the Producer** video, Square Enix revealed that **Patch 7.4**, scheduled to launch on all platforms in mid-December, will remove level and job/class restrictions on glamours. This means players will be able to use any glamour on their armor, regardless of the original level or class it was intended for.

Previously, if you had a glamour from a Lancer’s chest plate, for example, you couldn’t equip it on a Dark Knight’s armor. With Patch 7.4, those limitations will no longer apply, offering far greater freedom for creative outfit combinations. The only exception remains weapons, which still have restrictions. This is to prevent mechanical issues and visual inconsistencies—you won’t be able to turn weapons into completely different styles without compromising their functionality and appearance.

For fashion-forward players in **Final Fantasy 14**, this update is fantastic news and definitely worth looking forward to. It builds on other exciting developments in the game, including a recent collaboration event featuring Monster Hunter: Wilds. That crossover brought new items, characters, cosmetics, and even the mighty Arkveld dragon into the FF14 world, further expanding the ways players can customize and enjoy their experience.
