Trey Yesavage’s Game 5 gem puts Blue Jays one win away from World Series crown
Trey Yesavage met the moment and then some. The Blue Jays’ rookie right-hander struck out 12 Dodgers over seven brilliant innings to lead Toronto to a 6-1 win in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium. Toronto is now one win away from its first title in 32 years.
Yesavage allowed just one run and three hits, outpitching Dodgers lefty Blake Snell, who yielded five earned runs over 6 2/3 innings. Toronto jumped on the board early and never looked back, as Nos. 1 and 2 hitters Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. smacked back-to-back homers in the top of the first inning.
The Blue Jays now have a chance to clinch the World Series at home with Game 6 slated for Friday at Rogers Centre.
