**Last Solar Eclipse of 2025 Today: How to Watch**
*By Dwaipayan Roy | Sep 21, 2025, 11:29 AM*
The last solar eclipse of the year takes place today, captivating skywatchers around the globe. A solar eclipse happens when the Moon moves between the Earth and the Sun, blocking some or all of the sunlight from reaching our planet. Today’s event will be a partial solar eclipse, meaning only a portion of the Sun will be obscured by the Moon.
**Eclipse Schedule**
The solar eclipse will begin at 10:59 PM IST today and conclude at 3:23 AM IST. The peak of the eclipse, when the Moon covers the greatest portion of the Sun, will occur at 1:11 AM IST.
According to Space.com, this eclipse will be visible in several regions during the following local times:
– Antarctica: 4:49 AM to 6:53 PM
– Australia: 6:13 AM to 7:36 AM
– New Zealand: 5:41 AM to 8:36 AM
**Where Will the Eclipse Be Visible?**
This partial solar eclipse will mainly be visible in Antarctica, Australia, as well as over the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Unfortunately, it will not be visible in India since the event takes place after sunset there.
Looking ahead, the next solar eclipse is scheduled for February 17, 2026. That will be an annular solar eclipse visible from Antarctica, with a partial view possible in Africa and South America. Later in 2026, in August, a total solar eclipse is expected.
**How to Safely View the Eclipse**
Viewing a solar eclipse requires proper eye protection to avoid serious damage. Regular sunglasses are not sufficient. To safely watch the eclipse, use certified solar eclipse glasses or solar filters designed specifically for this purpose.
During a partial solar eclipse, it is important to wear solar viewing glasses at all times when looking at the Sun to ensure eye safety.
Enjoy this spectacular celestial event safely and stay tuned for more astronomical happenings in the coming year!
