The 1 thing Jim Harbaugh loved about Chargers’ blowout win over Vikings
The Los Angeles Chargers returned to the win column with a commanding 37-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings at SoFi Stadium on “Thursday Night Football.”
From the very beginning, the Chargers were firing on all cylinders, building a double-digit lead by halftime, 21-3. They maintained their dominance throughout the game, including outscoring the Vikings 13-0 in the fourth quarter to seal the lopsided win.
Justin Herbert was in his element, completing 18 of 25 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed 62 yards on the ground, setting the tone early with a precise first-half performance that thoroughly challenged the Vikings’ defense.
Oronde Gadsden II continued his impressive form with an early touchdown, while Kimani Vidal carried the ball 23 times for 117 yards. Meanwhile, Keenan Allen etched his name further into Chargers history by becoming just the second player, after Antonio Gates, to reach 11,000 receiving yards.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh also praised Joe Alt, who made his return from an ankle injury in this game. “Joe makes a huge difference. He’s a great player,” Harbaugh said after the game, as reported by NFL reporter Alex Insdorf. “(I’m) very pleased with the physicality of the team tonight.”
Alt had missed three games prior to this return. The Chargers had considered activating the second-year tackle for their Week 7 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts but ultimately chose to prioritize caution. The team lost that game 38-24.
With 22-year-old Alt back in the lineup, 27-year-old Herbert found it easier to orchestrate the offense effectively. “The team really responded. They went back to work after Sunday and they set their minds to it that they weren’t going to be denied,” added Harbaugh, according to an Associated Press report.
With this win, the Chargers improved their record to 5-3 and look to build on this momentum moving forward.
