“King Trump” takes “dump” on peaceful protesters, proving their point
The “No Kings” movement, which drew massive crowds across the U.S. this weekend, began as a symbolic protest against what organizers describe as the “authoritarian tendencies” of Donald Trump’s administration. Despite the millions in attendance nationwide, the events remained quite peaceful, just as the “No Kings” organizers had promised.
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel mocked Trump’s regal self-image during his Friday monologue. He also shared a social media post featuring 71 “nicknames” protesters could use on their signs. Kimmel highlighted that Republicans have labeled Saturday’s event as a “Hate America” rally, commenting sarcastically, “So, just to be clear, peacefully protesting a want-to-be dictator means you hate America.”
An attention-grabbing clip circulated online showing a jet releasing brown sludge over protesters, while Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” played in the background. In the video, Harry Sisson—a leftist influencer who appears in Trump’s AI video getting doused by the sludge—captures the stark contrast between the protesters’ message and the administration’s portrayal. “This is absurd,” he said. “That plane wouldn’t have made it off the ground with your fatass in the pilot’s seat.”
The post quickly drew criticism from many online users, who denounced it as “vile” and “dehumanizing.” Democratic strategist Matt McDermott weighed in on X, stating, “The wildest part about the largest protest in American history is that the president’s response was to post a video literally proving the point of the protest.”
In this way, the backlash from Trump regarding Saturday’s event may have only amplified the protesters’ message. The #NoKings hashtag surged again overnight, with organizers calling the controversial clip proof of why they march.
As the spectacle continues, the “No Kings” movement—once confined to the streets—now unfolds prominently on screens, where political power is increasingly performed in pixels.
