Mystery $500,000,000 XRP Transfer by Ripple Sparks Speculation: Details
Vet, an XRP dUNL validator, has drawn attention to a significant transfer of over $500 million worth of XRP by an account believed to be related to Ripple.
In a recent tweet, Vet highlighted that more than $500 million in XRP was moved to a new account linked to Ripple. According to data from the XRPL explorer XRPScan, the fresh account was activated on October 17. Notably, Vet pointed out that the transferred XRP was not escrowed, and the new account lacks multisignature protection or any special account settings, despite its substantial value.
Blockchain data tracker Whale Alert provided a detailed breakdown of the $500 million XRP transfer, which took place in three separate transactions within the last 24 hours. The transactions are as follows:
– 72,999,998 XRP (approximately $167,391,366 USD)
– 74,000,000 XRP (approximately $169,718,290 USD)
– 73,000,000 XRP (approximately $167,509,632 USD)
These amounts were transferred from Ripple to an unknown wallet, totaling 219,999,998 XRP worth around $504,619,288 at the time of the transfers.
This substantial movement of XRP comes at a significant time for Ripple. Reports indicate that the company is in the process of accumulating $1 billion worth of XRP for treasury purposes, alongside a recent $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury.
**Ripple’s $1 Billion XRP Accumulation Underway**
According to Bloomberg, Ripple is reportedly leading an effort to raise at least $1 billion to bolster its XRP holdings. The funds will be raised via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) and will be stored within a new digital-asset treasury (DAT). Sources familiar with the matter disclosed that Ripple will also contribute some of its own XRP to this initiative.
In addition to this, Ripple announced on Thursday its agreement to acquire treasury management software provider GTreasury for $1 billion. This strategic acquisition signals a major expansion for Ripple, opening immediate access to the multi-trillion-dollar corporate treasury market and connecting Ripple with some of the largest corporate clients worldwide.
The GTreasury deal marks Ripple’s third significant acquisition in 2025, following its purchases of prime broker Hidden Road and stablecoin platform Rail. These moves underscore Ripple’s ongoing efforts to broaden its footprint and strengthen its position within the financial ecosystem.
