ShackStream: The Messenger on The Stevetendo Show! Episode 636
Tonight on The Stevetendo Show, we’re diving back into our playthrough of *The Messenger*. This game feels like a blend of old-school platforming classics like *Ninja Gaiden* combined with Metroidvania elements, creating a unique and engaging experience.
This is my first time playing *The Messenger*, and I’ve really enjoyed it so far. One of my favorite gameplay mechanics is the ability to jump between 8-bit and 16-bit graphics, which adds a nostalgic yet fresh twist. However, one drawback I’ve noticed is the inability to attack upwards, which can be a bit frustrating during certain encounters.
In the previous episode, we found more music notes needed to unlock the music box inside the Tower of Time. Tracking down these notes is quite a challenge, but luckily, we can save our in-game currency to pay for hints about their locations. It feels like we’re getting close to finishing *The Messenger*, though I’ve been mistaken about that in past playthroughs!
The show is set to go live at 5 p.m. PDT / 8 p.m. EDT tonight. Join The Stevetendo Show for more adventures in *The Messenger*. Shackers who want to join the fun can head over to the Shacknews Twitch channel, where you can catch The Stevetendo Show every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
If you can’t make tonight’s stream, you can still watch Monday nights at 6 p.m. PDT / 9 p.m. EDT. Monday will be a Shacker’s Choice night, where I’ll be playing *Crow Country* for the very first time. Plus, our *Donkey Kong Bananza* playthrough will continue next week, with the action heating up—you won’t want to miss it!
Be sure to check out both the Shacknews Twitch channel and the Shacknews VODs YouTube channel. You can catch up on your favorite Shacknews programs by subscribing to the YouTube channel and following the Twitch channel.
In other news, Shacknews recently launched a new service called Shackmaps. The dedicated Shacknews staff has curated detailed maps for some of your favorite video games to help you avoid getting lost.
Looking ahead, keep an eye out for scary games on Monday nights throughout October. After October, *Super Mario Galaxy 2* will take over our Monday night slot, replacing Mario Kart Monday with “Super Mario Monday.”
Since we’re nearly finished with *Donkey Kong Bananza* and *The Messenger*, new playthroughs will be starting up on The Stevetendo Show soon. If we wrap up *The Messenger* this evening, I’ll share my final thoughts on the game and discuss what might replace it in the show’s rotation.
Keep sending in your suggestions for games you’d love to see featured on The Stevetendo Show. Whether it’s a title on the Nintendo Switch 2 or exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch 2 Online service, your picks could become the star of an upcoming episode. And with Nintendo’s frequent updates to the Switch 2 Online service, you never know what surprises are around the corner—so stay tuned!
