Windows 10 support officially ends today
Today marks the end of another Windows era for Microsoft, as support for Windows 10 officially comes to an end. This milestone had been anticipated for some time, but now Microsoft will stop providing technical assistance, feature updates, and security patches for the operating system.
With the conclusion of support for Windows 10, Microsoft is shifting its focus and resources to its current OS, Windows 11. Earlier this week, the company announced its final farewell to Windows 10 in a blog post on its customer service webpages.
As of October 14, 2025, the last update for Windows 10 will have been released, signaling the end of any new feature or security updates. Microsoft recommends that PC users upgrade to Windows 11 to continue receiving the latest enhancements and protections.
For users whose devices are not capable of running Windows 11, Microsoft offers an alternative through the Windows 10 Consumer Extended Security Updates (ESU) program. This program provides some level of security updates beyond the official end of service date. Another option is to replace older hardware with a new device that supports Windows 11.
Windows 11 represents a significant push by Microsoft to integrate AI-powered features, such as Copilot, into its ecosystem. Copilot serves as an AI assistant designed to help with various tasks, including writing and organization.
However, these AI-driven features have raised some security concerns among users. In response, Microsoft has made certain functionalities optional to address privacy and security apprehensions.
As Windows 10 sunsets, now is the time for users to consider their upgrade paths and explore the new possibilities that Windows 11 and its AI enhancements offer.
