The Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), led by strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor, has unveiled its second list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The announcement was made on Monday in the presence of Prashant Kishor, National President Uday Singh, and State President Manoj Bharti.
### Second List of Candidates
The newly released list features 65 candidates, bringing the total number of JSP nominees to 116 out of the 243 constituencies. Notable candidates on the second list include:
– Abhaykant Jha (Bhagalpur)
– Dr. Shah Nawaz (Barharia)
– Niraj Singh (Sheohar)
– Lal Babu Yadav (Narkatia)
– Mantos Sahni (Kalyanpur)
– Rajeev Ranjan Singh (Sandesh)
– Azam Hussain Anwar (Bajpatti)
– Ratneshwar Thakur (Harlakhi)
– Janardan Yadav (Narpatganj)
– Tanuja Kumari (Islampur)
The first list, released on October 9, included 51 candidates such as former IPS officer RK Mishra and senior advocate YV Giri.
### Campaign Update: Kishor to Challenge Tejashwi Yadav in Raghopur
Prashant Kishor launched his campaign from Raghopur on October 11, which is currently represented by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav. Kishor declared, “I will defeat Tejashwi just like Rahul Gandhi was defeated in Amethi.”
Although Kishor is a prominent leader within the JSP, his name has not yet appeared on either candidate list. The Raghopur seat remains unfilled, fueling speculation that Kishor may contest from there.
### Candidate Selection Criteria
Kishor emphasized that the party’s candidate selection reflects inclusivity, with the announced nominees including:
– 31 candidates from extremely weaker sections
– 21 candidates from Other Backward Classes (OBCs)
– 21 Muslim candidates
Notably, the Jan Suraaj Party was the first political party to announce its candidate list for the Bihar elections on October 9.
### NDA Announces Seat-Sharing Formula for Bihar Polls
In a related development, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar has finalized its seat-sharing arrangement. Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] will contest 101 seats each.
Other allocations include:
– Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) – 29 seats
– Rashtriya Lok Morcha – 6 seats
– Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) – 6 seats
### The Stakes
The Bihar Assembly elections are critical for all participating parties as they vie to form the next state government. With aggressive campaigning underway and candidate lists finalized, the upcoming polls promise a highly competitive political battle in Bihar.
