Microsoft is officially addressing the long-standing dark mode inconsistencies in Windows 11. The tech giant began testing improvements in August preview builds of the operating system, and now it is rolling out updates to enhance dark mode consistency across various File Explorer actions such as copying, moving, or deleting files and folders.
### Improving Dark Mode Across Dialogs
One of the most noticeable issues was evident when users tried to copy large files on Windows 11. Even with dark mode enabled, the system would display light mode dialogs, disrupting the immersive dark experience. This is all changing with the latest update from Microsoft, which also covers move and delete dialogs, among other parts of the OS.
### What’s Next for Dark Mode?
Microsoft is not stopping here. The company is working towards delivering a more consistent dark mode experience across progress bars, charts views, confirmation and error dialogs, as well as prompts for skipping, overriding, and file selection.
Dark mode was first introduced by Microsoft in Windows 10 back in 2016. However, it has taken several years for the company to focus on refining this feature for a seamless and uniform experience across its operating system.
Stay tuned as Microsoft continues to enhance dark mode, making it a more polished and user-friendly option for Windows users.
