**Renewable Energy Developers in India Seek Compensation for Transmission Delays**

India’s Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has accepted petitions from two renewable energy developers, ACME Solar and AMPIN Energy, who are seeking compensation for financial losses caused by delays in establishing transmission infrastructure. This decision could set an important precedent for other renewable energy companies facing similar challenges as India accelerates its clean energy transition.
**CERC Probes Developer Losses**
The CERC is currently investigating whether the Power Grid Corporation of India and the Central Transmission Utility of India should be held liable to compensate the developers for their losses. Both entities are responsible for the development of transmission infrastructure necessary to connect renewable energy projects to the grid.
The commission has given these organizations six weeks to respond to the inquiry. ACME Solar is seeking compensation exceeding ₹210 million, while AMPIN Energy has not yet specified the amount of its financial losses.
**Transmission Issues Cause Significant Clean Energy Curtailment in Rajasthan**
As part of the ongoing investigation, the CERC has requested detailed information from the Central Transmission Utility and the Power Grid Corporation regarding the transmission systems, commissioning timelines, and the reasons behind the delays.
These transmission issues have led to substantial curtailment of clean energy in Rajasthan, one of India’s major green power-producing states. Nearly 4 GW of clean energy capacity has been curtailed due to the delays, resulting in estimated losses of up to ₹250 crore (approximately $28.16 million).
The cases are scheduled for a hearing on November 27, 2025, and could have widespread implications for India’s renewable energy sector moving forward.
