**BJP, JDS Slam Congress Over Shivakumar’s Survey Response**

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar recently declined to answer certain questions during the ongoing socio-economic and educational survey, drawing sharp criticism from opposition parties.
The survey, conducted by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes, began on September 22 and will continue until October 7. Enumerators visited Shivakumar’s residence in Bengaluru’s Sadashivnagar area to collect data.
### Shivakumar Expresses Frustration Over Survey
Deputy CM Shivakumar appeared visibly frustrated with the lengthy survey process and the intrusive nature of some questions. He urged officials to “keep it simple” and concentrate on key information such as caste, educational qualifications, and government benefits received by households.
He also questioned the relevance of certain queries regarding cattle rearing and gold possession, sarcastically asking if he was expected to “run a poultry business.”
### Opposition Parties Criticize Congress Government
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) have both criticized the Congress government, describing the survey as a “confused and poorly planned” exercise.
State BJP chief BY Vijayendra claimed that Shivakumar’s reaction was indicative of the confusion surrounding the survey. He alleged that the government hurried into conducting the survey without proper preparation and questioned the timing, especially in light of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement to include caste enumeration in the national census.
### JDS Joins BJP in Censuring the Survey
The Janata Dal (Secular) echoed the BJP’s concerns, highlighting that Shivakumar himself refused to answer several of the enumerators’ questions. The party accused him of rejecting the caste census survey model and the questionnaire developed by “Rahul Gandhi and team” without providing sufficient explanation.
As the survey progresses towards its conclusion, the debate over its execution and transparency continues to intensify across Karnataka’s political landscape.
