Chembur Shops Targeted: Burglars Booked For Multiple Thefts On NG Acharya Road
**Multiple Burglaries Reported at Shops and Offices on N G Acharya Road, Chembur**
*Mumbai:* The Chembur police have registered a case against unidentified burglars responsible for multiple thefts at several shops and offices located on N G Acharya Road, Chembur, during the night of September 12.
While the total value of the stolen goods is yet to be determined, assets worth Rs 54,200—including mobile phones and cash belonging to staffers—were reported stolen from the complainant’s property.
According to the FIR, Kamaraj Tolkappiyan, 61, a businessman and resident of Tilak Indrani CHS in Tilaknagar, owns 10 commercial units in the Nilkanth commercial complex. He operates a salon and a beauty parlour in two of the shops, while the remaining units are rented out.
On the night of the incident, Abdullah Sarwar, 34, and his brother Irfan, who work at the salon, were sleeping outside the shop after closing for the day. In the early hours, Sarwar noticed that his phone, valued at Rs 25,000, and his wallet containing Rs 4,500 had been stolen, as stated in the FIR.
Further inspection revealed that the iron shutters and locks of the salon, beauty parlour, and the office had been broken. Additionally, Rs 24,700 cash was stolen from the salon locker, the FIR added.
Sarwar also claimed that he alerted the watchman; however, the watchman was reportedly unaware of the theft.
Upon making inquiries in the vicinity, Tolkappiyan learned that four other shops in the nearby Patel/Saurabh Chamber building had also been burgled. The details regarding the amount stolen from these locations are currently being ascertained.
The police are scrutinising CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the culprits.
