The insider explained that Dr. Phil attempted to persuade Jon to fabricate aspects of his life for the sake of the show. “Dr. Phil tried to facilitate giving Jon $2 million from TLC to stay in the marriage, even though Jon had already told TLC about the affair,” the source stated. Interestingly, Steve Nield was reportedly present during the meeting.
During the trip, Jon and Kate stayed in separate hotels. When Jon met with Dr. Phil, he was apparently confused about the purpose of the meeting. The insider shared, “Dr. Phil asked if they’d ever thought about a marriage contract and told Jon to just ‘pretend’ for TV. At that point, Dr. Phil was also on TLC’s payroll.”
