
Indore News: Husband’s Murder; Woman, Paramour Get Life Terms
**Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Two Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for 2017 Murder Case**
A woman and her paramour have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of the woman’s husband in a case dating back to 2017. Special Judge DP Mishra of the SC/ST Court sentenced Sangeeta Kumawat (45) and her accomplice Lakkir alias Pradeep (31) to life terms for the killing of Premchand Kumawat.
The case was prosecuted by Special Public Prosecutor Aarti Bhadoriya. On October 11, 2017, Premchand’s body was discovered in a drain in Yadavnand Nagar, bearing marks of strangulation. Investigations revealed that Sangeeta, along with Lakkir and another accused, Vikki, who remains absconding, had strangled Premchand and dumped his body.
Witnesses testified seeing the trio assault the victim and later transporting him on a motorcycle. During interrogation, Sangeeta confessed to conspiring with her lover to commit the murder. The authorities also seized the rope used in the crime along with call records as evidence.
After examining the testimonies of 15 witnesses, the court convicted Sangeeta and Lakkir, awarding both life imprisonment.

**Indore Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Raping 7-Year-Old Girl**
In a separate judgment, the 21st Additional Sessions Judge (Special Court POCSO Act) sentenced Madhavrao (52), a resident of Indore, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a 7-year-old girl. The case was argued by Special Public Prosecutor Sushila Rathore.
The court also ordered a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the victim under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
According to the prosecution, on November 17, 2023, Madhavrao lured the child to his house under the pretext of showing her the television. Moments later, the child’s parents heard her cries and found her in distress. Locals apprehended the accused on the spot.
A case was registered at the Tejaji Nagar police station. Medical examinations and witness statements confirmed the crime. The court found Madhavrao guilty and emphasized that such heinous crimes against minors deserve no leniency.
