Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav displayed a heartwarming gesture towards Sri Lanka’s Dunith Wellalage following the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match at the Dubai International Stadium.

Wellalage, who recently lost his father, was seen with a somber expression during the match. Suryakumar comforted him like an elder brother, offering support during a difficult time.

The young Sri Lankan cricketer learned of his father’s passing after the Group stage clash against Afghanistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. His father’s death was attributed to a heart attack.

Despite the tragedy, Wellalage briefly returned home to be with his family but soon came back to fulfill his national duties ahead of the Super 4 stage.
