Indore News: DAVV Hikes Exam Fees By 10%, To Impact Nearly 3 Lakh Students

**Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Announces 10% Hike in Examination Fees**

*Indore (Madhya Pradesh):* In a move that has come as a surprise to many students, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has announced a 10 percent increase in examination fees for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. This decision was approved by the Executive Council and will take effect from the upcoming examination session.

The revised fee structure will impose an additional burden of Rs 80 to Rs 120 per student. With around three lakh students appearing for DAVV exams annually, the fee hike is expected to generate approximately Rs 3 crore in additional revenue for the university.

The last revision of examination fees was conducted four years ago, and the administration had deliberately avoided any changes during the COVID-19 pandemic period. However, the latest decision comes amid declining revenue streams for DAVV.

A significant factor contributing to the revenue shortfall is the establishment of Khargone University in 2024. This development led to the transfer of nearly 80 affiliated colleges and about 80,000 students out of DAVV’s jurisdiction, causing a notable dip in earnings.

To address this financial challenge, officials have indicated that a yearly hike of 8 to 10 percent in exam fees will be proposed to the Executive Council moving forward.

**Examination Details and Schedule**

DAVV conducts more than 800 regular, supplementary, and ATKT (Allowed To Keep Terms) exams each academic year. Undergraduate exams for courses such as BA, BCom, BSc, BHSc, BJMC, and BSW are typically held annually between April and June. On the other hand, postgraduate semester exams for MA, MCom, MSc, MSW, and MBA take place in December and May.

Currently, the university earns nearly Rs 15 crore annually from examination fees. With the recent hike, all exams scheduled from October 2025 onward will be conducted under the new fee structure.

Exam Controller Prof. Ashesh Tiwari commented on the development, stating, “The exam fee has been revised after four years. Due to financial constraints, the Executive Council has decided that exam fees will be increased by around 10 percent every year going forward.”
