If you or your family’s holiday plans are still in flux, consider this the sign you’ve been waiting for to go ahead and book those flights.

For Thanksgiving week travel, booking your trip about 35 days before you travel is when you’re most likely to find the most affordable tickets. Since we are exactly one month away from Thanksgiving, if you’re rolling the dice hoping to snag the lowest price, you *may* have already missed your best opportunity.

The good news? You can still get a decent price up to 24 days before you fly. To spare you the math and calendar flipping, you’ll want to book by the end of this week (November 1) to secure the best deals.

Looking ahead to Christmas week, Google’s travel report recommends purchasing tickets 51 days before Christmas. That falls on November 4 this year — just a week from Tuesday, October 28. Keep in mind that the Christmas week travel rush really kicks into high gear the weekend before Christmas, which is December 20.

Again, don’t stress over the exact dates. Experts generally recommend booking right around November 1 to get the best prices ahead of the busy holiday season.
