1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Coupe
This 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z coupe has a rich history, having spent time in California, Oregon, and Nevada before being acquired by the current owner in 2019. It now shows just 59,000 miles on the odometer.
Powering this classic Camaro is a 5.7-liter L98 V8 engine featuring tuned-port fuel injection, factory rated at 230 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential, sending power to the rear wheels. Recent maintenance includes the replacement of the radiator, thermostat, and coolant hoses in 2019, with an oil change performed as recently as 2025. The seller notes that the car tends to get warm at idle. Additionally, there is a minor drip observed from the rear axle.
The exterior is finished in Dark Red Metallic, complemented by features such as a rear spoiler, removable roof panels, fog lights, sport mirrors, faux hood louvers, and body-color front and rear fascias. While the paint shows some chips, swirls, and other imperfections, the overall appearance remains striking. The 16-inch gray-accented cast-aluminum wheels are mounted with 245/50 Falken Ziex ZE950 A/S tires bearing 2018 date codes. Braking performance is ensured by four-wheel disc brakes, while power steering and a performance-oriented suspension enhance the driving experience.
Inside, the Camaro is upholstered in gray cloth and equipped with a range of amenities for comfort and convenience. These include a power-adjustable driver seat, air conditioning, cruise control, a rear window defogger, power windows, power mirrors, power locks, and a cassette stereo paired with a Delco/Bose audio system. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a comprehensive gauge cluster with a 145-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, voltage, and oil pressure.
There are a few noted interior issues: an intermittent squeak from the dashboard, a loose passenger seatbelt tensioner, and a sagging headliner.
The five-digit odometer confirms 59,000 miles, with approximately 3,000 of those added by the current owner.
This Camaro comes complete with valuable documentation, including a window sticker copy, the owner’s manual, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title. The original window sticker shows a total vehicle price of $21,005 and verifies initial delivery to McCullough Chevrolet of Hayward, California.
The Carfax report is free of any accident or damage entries, and the car most recently passed a California Smog Check in August 2025.
This well-maintained and documented 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z represents an excellent opportunity for enthusiasts seeking a classic American muscle car with modern reliability and tasteful upgrades. It is currently offered for sale by a local Bring a Trailer partner on behalf of the owner.
