Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra was recently questioned for four and a half hours by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with an alleged Rs 60 crore cheating case. Her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, has also been questioned as part of the investigation.

### Background of the Case

The couple stands accused of defrauding businessman Deepak Kothari through a loan-cum-investment agreement. Kothari, who is a director at Lotus Capital Finance Service, filed a cheating case in Mumbai against Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Raj Kundra. The allegations revolve around their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, which is reportedly at the center of this dispute.

### Investigation Progress

The EOW has recorded statements from five individuals, including Raj Kundra. Kundra’s statement was recorded on September 15 and lasted for over five hours at a confidential location to avoid media attention. Shilpa Shetty Kundra was subsequently questioned for more than four hours as the inquiry deepened.

### Legal Actions Taken

In September, the Mumbai police issued Lookout Circulars (LOCs) against both Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Raj Kundra. An LOC restricts a person from leaving the country and alerts immigration and border officials to monitor their movements.

Both Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Raj Kundra served as directors of Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, linking them directly to the company’s alleged financial irregularities.

### Additional Claims by Raj Kundra

During the investigation, Raj Kundra revealed that a part of the disputed amount was paid as professional fees to several Bollywood personalities, including actors Bipasha Basu and Neha Dhupia, as well as producer Ektaa Kapoor. This information was provided in his statement recorded before the EOW.
