One incumbent, one challenger elected in Augusta at-large council race
**Augusta City Council Election Results: Stephanie Sienkiewicz and Joshua Lilley Win At-Large Seats**
Incumbent Stephanie Sienkiewicz and challenger Joshua Lilley have secured the two at-large seats up for election on the Augusta City Council, emerging at the top of a four-candidate field.
Sienkiewicz received 2,378 votes, while Lilley garnered 2,267 votes, defeating incumbent William Savage, who obtained 1,818 votes, and newcomer Wyatt Beaulieu, who earned 1,995 votes.
**Candidate Profiles**
Stephanie Sienkiewicz, 35, a stay-at-home parent and community volunteer, has been serving on the council since 2023. During her campaign, she emphasized her deep care for the welfare of the Augusta community and expressed confidence in her skills, time, and perspectives to help shape the city’s future positively. Sienkiewicz highlighted the insufficiency of housing as a critical issue, impacting not only Augusta but also the state and national levels.
Joshua Lilley, 33, a manager of a local retail store, has no prior political service but has previously run for city council. He campaigned on his passion for Augusta’s future and stressed the need for the city to work effectively for its residents. Lilley also identified stabilizing taxes as a priority to prevent residents from leaving the community due to affordability concerns.
William Savage, 57, an assistant attorney general for the state and an incumbent councilor since 2023, previously served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002. Savage expressed that he has valued the opportunity to give back to Augusta through thoughtful and informed problem-solving alongside his fellow councilors. He identified maintaining quality education, encouraging economic development to broaden and stabilize the tax base, and increasing housing opportunities as the city’s top three challenges.
Wyatt Beaulieu, 28, an IT and marketing consultant and a multi-generation lifelong resident of Augusta, has no prior political experience. As a homeowner and father of two, Beaulieu highlighted concerns about rising taxes and safety affecting families. He stated that his primary focus as a city councilor would be addressing taxes, ensuring transparent spending, and improving safety, with a commitment to prevent any new tax increases.
The election results reflect the community’s priorities and the candidates’ commitments to addressing key issues such as housing, taxation, economic development, education, and safety in Augusta.
