The recently released documentary *Ozzy: No Escape from Now* offers an intimate look into the late rockstar Ozzy Osbourne’s long and painful struggle with severe pain and depression in the years leading up to his passing in July 2025. Filmed between 2021 and 2025, the film also sheds light on his challenges with Parkinson’s disease, which worsened following complications from neck surgery in 2019.
**Family Frustration Over Surgery Complications**
Ozzy’s son, Jack Osbourne, expressed his frustration with the surgeon responsible for his father’s neck operation, stating that it “stripped him of his abilities to move.” Jack shared, “It makes me so angry because I felt like all of this could’ve been avoided. The Parkinson’s is progressing, but the main problem is the nerve damage from the bad neck surgery.”
Likewise, longtime friend Billy Morrison opened up about how difficult it was to witness Ozzy’s suffering after his touring days had ended.
**A Declining Health and Emotional Struggles**
Two years after the surgery, Ozzy’s health took a noticeable downturn. His wife, Sharon Osbourne, revealed that the surgeon had “caused even more damage” by installing unnecessary metal plates. She recounted, “Some days, he wishes he was dead. He’s in so much pain, he can’t take it. He just wishes he could go.”
**Unwavering Commitment to His Career**
Despite his physical and emotional torment, Ozzy remained resolute about continuing to perform. In the documentary, he apologized to Sharon for being “a burden” and expressed his fierce determination to return to the stage. “I am determined to get back on stage even if I have to be nailed to a board and wheeled on. Survival is my legacy,” he shared.
Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 and was laid to rest in Buckinghamshire, England. *Ozzy: No Escape from Now* stands as a powerful testament to his enduring spirit amid immense hardship.
