NFL flexes Patriots-Ravens to prime time for Week 16 showdown

NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL has flexed the Week 16 game between AFC playoff contenders New England and Baltimore into the Sunday night prime time slot.

The league announced the change Monday, moving the Patriots-Ravens matchup from a 1 p.m. ET regional window to the national TV spot on NBC at 8:20 p.m. ET on December 21.

As a result, the previously scheduled game between Miami and Cincinnati will move to the early afternoon start.

Currently, the Patriots lead the AFC East with an 11-2 record, while the Ravens sit one game out of the lead in the AFC North with a 6-7 record. Both the Dolphins (6-7) and Bengals (4-9) have slim hopes of making the playoffs.

This marks the first prime-time flex game of the season. The NFL utilizes this flex scheduling option late in the season to move afternoon games to prime time, ensuring better matchups for a national audience.
