Bhojpuri Star Pawan Singh Gets Y-Category Security Citing Potential Threats Amid Controversy With Wife Jyoti Singh
New Delhi: Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh has been provided with a ‘Y’ category security cover following intelligence reports that indicated potential threats to him, officials said on Wednesday. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) VIP security wing has been assigned the responsibility to provide this security.
Singh, aged 39, was granted this high-level security on the recommendation of the Union Home Ministry, which took into account intelligence inputs about possible threats ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls. Approximately four armed commandos will be deployed to guard Singh during his movements in Bihar, where the assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11.
Recently, Pawan Singh met with senior political leaders including Amit Shah, BJP national president J.P. Nadda, and party ally Upendra Kushwaha. This meeting sparked speculation about a possible rapprochement ahead of the elections.
The singer was initially fielded by the BJP from the Asansol constituency in West Bengal for the 2024 general election. However, he was asked by the party to withdraw after allegations surfaced that his music videos and songs depicted Bengali women in a vulgar manner.
In terms of the VIP security classification under the central protection list, the categories range from the highest Z-plus (ASL) to Z-plus, Z, Y, Y-plus, and X categories.
