Beast of Reincarnation tells the story of Emma & Koo in Summer 2026

Back at Summer Game Fest, Game Freak rebranded its Project Bloom as an adventure titled **Beast of Reincarnation**. Recently, Xbox’s Developer Direct showcase offered a deeper look at what’s coming, featuring an intimate tour through Game Freak’s studio facilities.

**Beast of Reincarnation** is set 2,000 years in the future, in the year 4026 AD. Humanity’s numbers have dwindled over the centuries, leaving behind a vastly changed world. Players take on the role of Emma, an isolated human wandering the ruins of future Japan, where she encounters an abandoned dog named Koo. According to Xbox Wire, their paths seem fated to cross, even though it shouldn’t be possible.

Emma was born afflicted by a mysterious condition called “blight,” which has granted her the power to manipulate plants. Void of both memory and emotion, she is shunned and feared by those around her and lives a life of total isolation. Koo, in contrast, is known as a “malefact”: a creature that poses a dire threat to this world.

Emma carries the heavy burden of being a “sealer,” a role that requires her to hunt these malefacts and absorb their blight into her own body to contain the threat.

Gameplay focuses on mastering Emma’s katana skills, including a parry mechanic that can trigger queued attacks from Koo. As players progress, they can find Spirit Stones scattered throughout the world, which add additional effects and enhancements to both Emma and Koo’s abilities.

Beast of Reincarnation promises a unique, atmospheric adventure blending action and exploration in a hauntingly beautiful future Japan. Stay tuned for more updates as the game moves closer to release.
