Angola vs Argentina Preview
Argentina return to action on Friday when they journey to the Estadio 11 De Novembro to face Angola in a friendly fixture. This will be the Black Sable Antelopes’ first friendly outing this year as they ramp up preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in December.
It was another disappointing run in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers for Angola. They picked up 12 points from 10 games to finish fourth in Group D, seven points off the playoff qualifying spot. Angola are now set to miss out on a fifth consecutive World Cup since their debut appearance in 2006, when they suffered a group-stage exit in Germany.
The Black Sable Antelopes, unbeaten in their last three matches (1W, 2D), will look to gather momentum ahead of the upcoming AFCON. They have been drawn into a tough Group B alongside Zimbabwe, South Africa and record-champions Egypt.
Argentina Form Guide
Elsewhere, Argentina cruised to an emphatic 6-0 victory over Puerto Rico in a friendly at the Chase Stadium on October 15. Before that, Lionel Scaloni’s men wrapped up their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Ecuador on September 10, before bouncing back in a 1-0 friendly victory over Venezuela on October 11.
Argentina dominated the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, picking up 38 points from 18 matches to finish nine points clear at the top of the group standings.
Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
• This will be just the second encounter between Angola and Argentina. Scaloni’s side won the first meeting 2-0 in a similar friendly back in May 2006.
• Maxi Rodriguez and Juan Pablo Sorin scored in an eight-minute spell to secure the win at the Stadio Arechi in Italy.
• Angola have failed to win four of their last five matches across all competitions, losing twice and drawing twice since August 14.
• Argentina are on a run of 13 back-to-back friendly victories, dating back to a 2-2 draw against Uruguay in November 2019.
Match Prediction
Angola begin their AFCON preparations with a stern test against a star-studded Argentine side. Given the gulf in quality and recent form, Argentina are expected to ease to a comfortable victory.
Prediction: Angola 0-4 Argentina
